Pros
- The approach is gradual and begins at a low altitude.
- High-altitude porters can be hired at Plaza Argentina
- In general, water can be found at camps 1 and 2.
- Camp 3 or Plaza Cólera can be reached to later climb down Pioneers’ Normal route.
Cons
- Summit day from Camp 2 is longer than that from Berlin or Cólera.
- Camp 3 is too high and exposed.
- There is quite a long distance between P. Argentina and camp 1.
- Camps 1 and 2 are often full in the high season.
- There is no rescue squad in the ascent route, but park rangers usually provide some assistance.
