The Paleozoic Era

For some reason, there was a “life boom” 550 Ma ago and water was filled with invertebrates, especially arthropods, whose hard covers fossilized and were preserved in time in the sediments.

The Mesozoic Era

Great changes took place on the earth’s surface during this period. Pangaea broke up into smaller continents which started drifting apart from each other, a phenomenon which is still occurring today.

The Cenozoic Era.

The earth continued its changing process during this era. The distribution of continents and oceans became more and more similar to that of present day.

Continental Drift

As far back as 1620, F. Bacon suggested that the present continents must have formed one block of landmass.

Plate Tectonics

The Plate Tectonics Theory is the result of the contribution of much research done by Oceanic Geology.
